AN ~ short bucktommy angst/whump with a happy ending, coz i love torturing my boys. 8x07 spoilers and verrrrrry loosely insp by a still from 8x08
typing
Why would he type type type and not send anything?
The alarms blare and Buck throws his baking back in the oven and sprints downstairs, but his mind is elsewhere. This? This is all muscle memory at this point. His mind occupies itself with other things, wondering what exactly Tommy might have wanted to say.
Evan. No. Buck. God, he still hates it that he called him Buck.
Can we talk? Tommy always was a man of few words. Or maybe Buck is just a man of many. But what does 'can we talk' even mean? He'd be spiralling just as hard as with the silent disappearing bubble. It's better this way.
MARRIAGE, EVAN??
God, he's an idiot. A pathetic, clingy idiot. Even now he would kill for a second round, just to dig that knife in deeper. At least then maybe, he'd be able to pick up what he'd missed before; where exactly that big dimpled grin and soft eyes had turned to hard words and hidden pain. At least then, he'd be able to fix it.
Hen watches him with a knowing eye.
“Stay strong, Buck,” she reminds him as they pull up to the scene. “Head in the game.”
Buck nods. He drops his phone on the seat and packs it away to the back of his mind, as best he can. Maybe he'll get to whip out the jaws of life. They always make him feel better. Shake it off, Buckley, let's go.
He's the last one out of the engine, and he hits the ground already triaging the scene. His senses expand, cataloguing the vehicles, the passers-by, the direction and nature of the accident. Eddie and Bobby are getting a run-down from a uniformed police officer on scene and it happens a splt second before Buck's mind catches up.
“A silver-” he overhears - “oh-”
He can see it in his minds eye, almost feel it even as his own heart sinks; the way recognition sets into Eddie's face. And then horror. He looks further down the road, to a sight that's partially obstructed from Buck's view. Partially, but not so much that he doesn't start running toward it because he has a feeling he knows, he knows, he knows who it is.
Why would he type type type and not send anything?
“Buck-” Hen warns, reaching to grab him but she's already missed.
Buck knows he should be helping but his world is caving in. Bobby's barking commands but all he hears is a wordless echo. Ravi hustles the balloons and the jaws up to the worst hit of the vehicles and Chimney is already there; medkit tossed over the worst of the shattered glass as he kneels by the dangerously crushed window and tries to make contact with the person inside.
“Buck.” It's Eddie this time, blocking with his body as much as he can – and he can, even with the full force of Buck throwing himself forward - but even he can't stop the terrible, terrible knowing.
“TOMMY!”
The name rips out of his lungs, because it's the truck: it's Tommy's pride and joy. It's singing along in the passenger seat and Tommy's smiling – sometimes he joins in, even though he wouldn't otherwise care for Buck's taste. It's Tommy slinging a greasy towel over his shoulder and hitching himinto the truck bed and making out until they both can't breathe. It's spilling the salt from hot chips in there; it's shoulder to shoulder at the drive-ins; it's getting fucked into the seats; it's polishing and vacuuming just last week because he can't help with the engine for shit. He'd put a little thing of jellybeans in the cup holder after - like his old detailer used to do, just to be cute - and it hits him that that's what those little coloured smudges are, intermingled with the crushed glass littered across the road.
What if he's in trouble and he needs my help?
“Oh, God, Tommy.”
The howling turns to hopeless. Breathless. The fight evaporates right out of him and he collapses forward into Eddie's arms. Eddie's embrace is firm and steadying as he lowers them both as gently as he can manage to the curb. Buck closes his eyes, sapped of the strength to watch any more but cursed by the knowledge of what's still got to be happening. Hen and Chim will be extracting Tommy's bruised and broken body onto a backboard right about now, and then lifting him onto a gurney. They'll be doing CPR if he's lucky – and they are, he can hear it, so at least there's that.
Then it stops.
For a few, horrible seconds all he can hear is his own hammering heart. Eddie's ragged breathing. Footsteps. Bobby.
“Buck.”
It takes a second, for him to gather the courage to open his eyes and look up. Bobby's demeanour is solemn and serious, but there's a softness Buck recognises well. A lightness that promises things might just be okay, as he offers a hand to pull Buck up from the roadside.
“He's asking for you in the ambulance,” Bobby says, and there's just a flicker, just an iota of a smile as he urges - “Go.”

What if in the big first disaster mini-arc of season 8, Tommy's helicopter crashes close to where the 118 are. Gerrard decides that the helicopter, and everyone that is in it, is a lost cause and that they shouldn't be wasting resources or his team trying to help anyone out of the crash. What if the entire team mutinies to go find Tommy, his team, his helicopter, and the patients he was transporting?
What if the people in the helicopter crash are scattered - some in the helicopter, some flung out of it? What if Tommy was one of the people flung out of the helicopter; lost and out of range?
What if the 118 manages to find the helicopter, only to see that Tommy is missing? But they have to secure the scene, they have to call for back up, they have to make sure everyone still in the helicopter is okay. But maybe Hen takes over the scene and tells Chimney and Buck to keep searching the woods for other survivors.
And Buck feels guilty that he's relieved that Hen chose him to go sift through the woods of this mountain for other survivors, but there's really no time to think about that. There's no time at all.
Lives are on the line.
Tommy is out there.
And in the woods, Tommy is hurt. He's hurt, but he can hear someone calling for help. So, he moves despite knowing full well that might be bad for him. He moves because he's a first responder and will always try to help someone in need. And he finds one of his patients worse off than before. And he feels guilt that due to bad weather conditions and how the fire in the woods traveled (did I not say there was a fire? There's a fire and it's threatening to reach their side of the mountain at any moment), he lost control of the helicopter (and I would like to think there would be another twist too, like the 118 find something was already messed up with the helicopter to begin with, so it was a miracle that Tommy could even fly it at all).
But Tommy could do this.
He could save this one person.
So, Tommy's doing his best. He's working through his own pain as he puts a splint on this person's leg, as he pops this person's dislocated arm back in, as he makes the split decision to burn a cut closed because he doesn't have the supplies and that was the best he could do without the person bleeding out during a hike. And he makes a fucking board out of low branches he rips off trees. And, damn it, he knows his radio is basically busted, but he tries for help, only getting broken static back.
But he is going through.
He just can't hear the other end.
But his words are getting through the radio - they're reaching Buck. And Buck is desperately trying to answer back, he's trying to far longer than he should, he should have realized the first four tries that Tommy can't here him.
But he knows which direction Tommy is going. Because he and Tommy hiked up this mountain before. Buck knows which trail Tommy is trying to get to, so it's a race against time - will Buck and Chimney get to Tommy and the patient before the fire gets to them?
And the answer is that they get there just as the fire does. Nipping at Tommy's heels, but it ends up being stopped by a water drop just in time. Tommy is stunned when he sees Chimney and Evan, he's truly stunned.
He didn't think anyone heard him.
He didn't think they were going to be found in time.
And Buck calls it in, asks for backup, asks for help. Chimney checks on the person Tommy did first aid on.
And Tommy.
And Buck.
They run to each other.
They collapse into each other's arms. Exhausted and running on adrenaline alone. And they're checking if the other is okay - both are very worse for wear. And things seem okay as they wait for help to get to them. Things are going great for Hen too, she successfully saves everyone else in the helicopter crash with Eddie and Ravi's help.
But then.
A tree nearby is unstable.
Tommy sees it just in time.
And Tommy pushes Chimney out of the way, only to be caught under the tree.
And this is bad.
Back breaking bad.
Body crushing bad.
Buck tries not to panic, but it's clear this has shaken him. Chimney is doing his best and is calling for more help.
Help gets there, help finally gets there. And they manage to pull the tree off Tommy. Buck rides with Tommy to the hospital, holding his hand. He paces, distressed, as he waits for the longest surgery in his life.
And Tommy? Tommy should make it. But he's out, he's been put into a medically induced a coma as he heals. And at first, that's okay. Buck can be there. He can make sure Tommy's warm. He can hold Tommy's hand and read to him, and sleep in a rolled in bed.
Until that stops.
Mysteriously, he's not allowed into Tommy's room.
He's not allowed any information.
He's not Tommy's family.
And Tommy's parents are, somehow, technically still Tommy's next of kin - they're in charge of his medical treatment. They're in charge of who sees him.
Buck tries to explain who he is.
They reject the very idea of it.
And it's devastating. Buck didn't think about this. He didn't know this could happen. Tommy hadn't spoken to his parents in over twenty years, yet they're just allowed to come and do this to him.
Buck doesn't know what to do. He can't eat. He can't sleep. People have to force him to do anything for himself as he wonders how Tommy's parents are treating him.
Are they reading to him? Are they spending time with him? Are they making sure he's warm? Are they doing anything at all? Is this all for spite?
Somehow, other people are allowed to visit.
Just not Buck.
Buck is blacklisted.
Eddie is allowed; Christopher too. Chimney, somehow; probably because Tommy had saved his life. Maddie, even. Hen isn't, they can tell something is queer about Hen. Ravi isn't either. Bobby was allowed at first, before he made a case to the Kinards to let Buck see Tommy and it went south.
But definitely not Buck.
And Buck? Buck is camped out in the waiting room. The waiting room he kissed Tommy in. He basically has grown a short beard in that waiting room, he hasn't been shaving.
And all Buck can ask when he sees Eddie or Chimney or Maddie is - how is he doing? Is he doing okay? Is his favorite blanket still on him? What did you talk to him about? What did you read him? How did he look?
And the nurses - they know Buck. They've known him for years. And some take pity on him one night, and let him at least near the room when the parents are gone.
And the parents file for a restraining order against Buck, but it was worth it just to see Tommy.
Tommy looked better than last time.
That was good.
That was what mattered.
And a few more days go by like that with Buck in the waiting room, unable to leave.
Until Tommy wakes up.
He wakes up.
He asks his parents to leave.
He asks for Evan.
And a band of nurses and maybe Chimney rush over and tell Buck the news.
And Buck is running.
Sprinting.
To get to Tommy's room.
He knows where it is.
He memorized where the room was.
And he sees Tommy awake.
And part of him hadn't realized that he wasn't sure if Tommy would wake up. That some little, horrible part of him thought that Tommy would never wake up and he would never see Tommy again.
Tommy makes a joke about how Evan looks like a caveman.
Buck laughs. And cries. And sobs as he rushes frantically over to Tommy and collapses into a hug.
Tommy holds Buck as best as he can in his state while mumbling fondly that Evan smells like a caveman too. Buck offers to go, get cleaned up, but Tommy holds onto him.
Asks Evan to stay.
Apologizes for his parents, that he hadn't expected them to come. That he is going to change his will as soon as he can.
And he just wants Evan there.
With him.
And Buck stays.

Random person: "Tommy is so mean for saying "enjoy it while it lasts".
French people *confused* because they see nothing wrong with it.
To me, it just shows that they are close and Tommy feels comfortable with Buck.
Even Ravi, who witnessed the whole scene didn't think anything of it...

Eddie Diaz, Pervert
Buck has put on some weight
Eddie likes it
- inspired by the bts scenes with just a little tummy
**
Eddie has always known Buck is hot. It's a given. The sky is blue, the grass is green (sometimes brown, it's been a dry summer), and Evan Buckley is almost unreally good looking.
He never planned to do anything about it.
But Eddie had never been challenged like this.
According to Buck it was the 'best break up I have ever had' and Eddie could tell. Buck was single again but instead of carrying the load of gloom that had accompanied his past break ups he seemed lighter. Emotionally, at least.
Physically was a whole different situation. And very much the source of Eddie's current torment.
While Tommy and Buck were dating Buck had gotten comfortable with himself. He no longer obsessively tracked his body fat and the cut of his muscles. He was still strong, firefighters had to be. And he was still in shape.
But he was softer now.
And it was driving Eddie crazy.
He had never been a biter, it wasn't his thing. But something about the thin layer of fat that had overlaid Bucks muscles, the signs of someone well fed and hydrated, someone who was rested and happy-- had taken Eddie's breath away.
Still firm and muscular, but thicker. All over. But Eddie's fascination was centered on Buck's tummy.
And his teeth itched.
Still, Eddie thought he was covering it pretty well.
"Put that look away, we're at work," Hen hissed at him.
Eddie felt his shoulders drop and he leaned his forehead against the bus. "I could put in the work," he muttered, watching as Buck took off his turnout jacket. His shirt pulled loose from his pants exposing a strip of his stomach and Eddie groaned at the flash of tan skin.
"Damm, you got it bad," she laughed.
"I could give it--"
Hen's glove covered hand plastered over his mouth cut off the rest of his sentence and Eddie could only be thankful for the reprieve.
"Be cool, Eddie."
It was only after Eddie nodded that she took her hand away. He was able to keep his thoughts on the inside for a few hours, but after the others had gone to get some sleep, he found himself stuck.
Eddie was standing at the counter, debating another mug of coffee. He didn't even want one but he was bored and it would at least be something to do.
"If you drink any more coffee you're gonna keep me up all night," Buck murmured against Eddie's ear.
Eddie had heard Ravi talk about 'blue-screening' and he didn't understand what that meant.
Until now.
"Eddie," Buck said, now pulling away. "You okay?"
Before Buck could move too far Eddie spun around until they were facing each other and they were so close.
Too close.
Eddie tried to shuffle back but the counter behind him wouldn't let him move. He was frozen in place, trapped as Buck raised a warm hand and pressed it against his forehead, then around to the back of Eddie's neck.
"You don't feel hot," Buck said.
Eddie, in some fit of horny-induced lunacy pressed his own hand against Buck's pec and said, "Now, I do."
Buck looked confused and it was the perfect moment for Eddie to take his hand off and make a joke. And he wanted to. But his hand had somehow fused to the worn cotton material of Buck's shirt. He tried to pull his hand away and only succeeded in moving softly, carressingly, over Buck's chest.
"Eddie," Buck said softly, "What are you doing?"
Eddie shook his head. "I'm losing my mind, I think."
Buck stepped back and Eddie fought the urge to follow him. There was a heavy concern in those deep blue eyes. "Are you okay? Do we need to call Frank?"
Eddie laughed. It felt oddly bitter in his mouth. "No. No. Hey, I'm fine." He turned and moved past Buck, walking away from the counter. "I'm gonna go splash some water on my face, cool down a little bit." He jogged down the stairs and headed for the bathroom.
Standing in front of the mirror, Eddie could barely meet his own eyes. This was getting embarassing.
"Get it together," Eddie muttered to himself. "That is your best friend. Not-- not some piece of meat." He glared down at his own crotch. "You need to chill out. This is not cool."
Eddie closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He's known Buck for years, probably been attracted to him almost the whole time, so why was it a problem now? Yes, that was a weird interaction but he could brush it off as fatigue or something.
It was fine.
Well, he could pray on it. God knows it wouldn't be the first time he asked the saints to help him hide an awkward boner.
Eddie took another breath and opened his eyes.
Reflected in the mirror was Buck. Holding a mug in one hand and his shirt in the other. Bare chested and beautiful even under the fluorescent light of the bathroom.
"Man, Bobby's new milk frother does not play around. I made you a fancy cocoa -- Eddie, are you okay?"
"Jesus Christ," Eddie swore, meeting his own terrified gaze in the glass and watched that fear transform into confidence and a ravenous heat. "This is too much. I give up."
"Give up on what," Buck said, a concerned edge to his voice.
Eddie turned around and walked towards Buck. He felt like a tiger, like he was stalking the man to hunt, to devour.
His teeth itched.
Buck calmed down for a moment, not afraid anymore, then he grinned.
"Eddie? Is this--?"
Eddie felt like he traveled miles from the sink to the door but in truth it was only a few steps before he was standing in front of Buck.
Buck opened his mouth to say something but Eddie never gave him the chance, pressing a hard kiss into Buck's plush lips. Eddie heard Buck groan against him and that only made him delve deeper. He heard a low thunk as the mug fell out of Buck's hand but then those hands immediately clutched onto Eddie's back, pulling him closer. And all thoughts were swept away.
Eddie's own hands had run up over the dense muscle at Buck's waist and the indents of his ribs, his shoulder blades, to sink into the curls at the back of the other man's head.
Eddie thinks if he kissed Buck hard enough he could somehow climb inside the other man and live, safe and warm and loved, forever. But then firm hands were on his chest and pushing him back. Eddie stopped, pulled away. He untangled his fingers from Buck's hair and wrapped them around the hem of his own shirt somehow pulled free from his pants in their frantic scrambling.
Eddie felt himself panting harshly. He looked up to see Buck's chest, still bare but now shining with sweat, heaving with his own breaths. He didn't dare look higher, not sure what expression he would see on the other man's face.
"Eddie... I'm not... I'm not saying no," Buck said softly. "Just-- what is this? To you?"
Eddie opened his mouth, then closed it again. He had never known what to say, always let his actions tell the people he loved how he felt but they had already kissed and -- "I want to bite you," he blurted, finally.
A firm hand settled under his chin, lifting his head until he was looking into Buck's wide grin.
"You want to bite me?"
Eddie nodded, only a small movement but he could feel the strength in Buck's grip.
Buck slid his hand until it was cupping the side of Eddie's face and he was helpless to resist the gesture, leaning into that warm caress.
"That's pretty aggressive for a first date but I could be persuaded."
Eddie scoffed. "We have been dating for six years. There are more of your clothes in my closet than in your own. I gave you a son. You're lucky I'm not proposing right now."
Buck laughed, loud and bright and with the edge of tears in his eyes. "Oh my God, you're right. Forget the proposal, I think we might actually be married."
"Yeah," Eddie said. "Now can I bite you, or..."
"Oh," Buck said. He stepped forward into Eddie's space. "You're gonna bite me? What if I wanna bite you?"
Eddie stepped back, watching as Buck moved forward after him. "We can take turns?"
Something in Eddie wanted to run, wanted to see if Buck would chase after him, what might happen when he was caught.
He saw a light in Buck's eyes that made him think the other man might be having the same thoughts.
Eddie kept backing up, letting Buck follow him, until he was pressed against the cool tile wall.
"The bathroom, Eddie, really," Buck murmured, leaning forward until his lips were barely a breath away from Eddie's own.
"Would you prefer the storage closet," Eddie replied before nipping lightly at Buck's mouth.
"I would prefer you did this at home," Chimney said, flatly.
Buck pulled back, turning on his feet and almost falling over. Eddie lunged away from the wall to help keep him on his feet.
"Uh," Buck said before turning to look at Eddie.
Eddie looked past the other man. "Hey Chim. We're still on shift for a while actually so we have to stay here. If you could just give us about ten minutes?"
Buck gasped and Chimney cackled.
"Ten minutes, Buckaroo? Wow, a little embarassing."
Buck squawked.
Whatever he was about to say was drowned out by the alarm. The three men moved towards the door, Buck stopping on the way to pick up his shirt from the floor where it had fallen and pull it on in one smooth motion.
Hen was already standing next to the ambulance. As Chimney broke off to join her Eddie could hear the other man whisper-shouting. He expected there would be gossip flying around the station by the time they got back but as he watched Buck bend over to pull on his boots Eddie couldn't bring himself to care.
"Hey, Buck," Eddie called, "Raincheck?"
When the other man looked up Eddie snapped his teeth at him.
Buck turned back to his gear but not before Eddie watched a hot red flush bloom on his cheeks. Even over the clamor of the alarm and the crew getting ready to roll out Eddie heard Buck mutter, "Jesus Christ."

I’ve been doing some thinking, and I would really like to see a “B shift” episode. Just like, Ravi and a bunch of firefighter characters we’ve never been introduced to. And the whole episode is just them NOT passing the “firefam bechdel” test, sp the whole episode is just them gossiping about our original fire fam and treating them like a live drama series.
“Oh yeah yeah Chimney! I know him. He’s the guy who survived the rebar through his head a couple of years ago.” “He what.”
“I mean, Eddie seems nice, but that’s only when he’s next to Buck. He’s terrifying otherwise. I heard he used to do underground fighting, and punched a guy so hard he almost died.” “Wait, Eddie Diaz? You sure? He pulled a double shift with me just last week and he was all smiley ranting about the Zoo trip he and Buck took his son on. I’d bet my money on them secretly dating btw. It would make all the sense.” “Whaaaat, no way! I thought they both had girlfriends?” “Did you ever actually see the girlfriends though?” “Huh. No.”
“Omg, Chimney’s wife and kids came by last week, they’re such a cute family.” “Wait, kids, plural?” “Yeah, looks like they adopted another girl!” “Oh no, that’s actually Hen’s daughter. She and her wife unreasonably lost their fostering licence, so Chimney and his wife took her in until it all gets sorted.” “What?? How close are those people?!” “Like, so close, dude.”
“I mean Bobby definitely plays favorites. I used to work with them on the A shift, but that sort of made me transfer to B shift. Nothing was wrong per say, but I just couldn’t figure out if Buck was actually his son or not? Because they’ve got different last names you know? And I didn’t want to ever be responsible if the Captain’s reckless son gets hurt on my watch.” “Oh no, Bobby’s definitely his dad. I think last name thing might be because of the first marriage? Buck probably just kept his mom’s maiden name, it’s not unheard of.”
“Did you know Hen completed med school?” “No, no, she dropped out. Decided it wasn’t for her or something.” “You sure? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her do some crazy medical work in the field before.” “Yeah, she’s just like that.”
“My previous captain played poker with Buck once. Lost so much money that night.” “Really?! He doesn’t seem like a guy that can keep a poker face.”
“How do you not remember Jonah? He worked with us a couple times. He’s the guy who kidnapped Hen and Chimney.” “Oh yeaah. That was messed up.”
“Yo Ravi, you work with the A shift a lot more than us. Settle this for us: Buck and Eddie, dating or friends?” “Divorced.” “DIVORCED?” “Yeah, I think they might get back together soon though. They keep hanging out together, and I don’t think it’s just because of their kid.”
And every time they talk about someone from thw firefam, the scene cuts to that person doing some random stuff on their day off, maybe getting ready for a firefam get-together or sth. I just think it would be neat.

wedding bells
honestly I wasn't planning to post this because I thought it was too silly but @nymika-arts said I should so. if you like it you can thank her <3
[Read on AO3]
Buck’s feet are up on the coffee table, his head tipped back against the couch, eyes closed but not sleeping when Eddie sits beside him, mentally apologising to Hen and Bobby as he puts his own feet up on the coffee table and makes himself comfortable. The cushions bounce a little, tipping them towards each other, and Buck grunts at being displaced, then tips himself fully against Eddie’s side. It’s late. They should both be in the bunks trying to get some sleep like everyone else, but Eddie came upstairs for a glass of water and found the glow of the TV and his best friend on the couch instead, a lure impossible to resist.
“What are you watching?” he asks. The scene that is playing out is vaguely familiar but not enough that he can recall the name of the movie or even the actors starring in it.
Buck opens his eyes, head lifting just slightly to squint at the TV. “Um, something about wedding dresses? I don’t know, it was already on when I got here.”
They watch in silence for a few minutes, TV light playing across their faces, but soon Buck’s eyes are closed again, his head back on Eddie’s shoulder, and Eddie tips his own head back against the couch, too tired to figure out the movie’s plot when it’s already halfway through. Girl meets guy, falls in love with guy, denies that she’s in love with guy, guy wins her over in the end. Something like that, probably. Everyone lives happily ever after.
The background noise of the movie and the warm weight of his best friend against his side is lulling Eddie towards a nap when Buck breaks the silence.
“Do you want to get married?”
“Sure,” Eddie answers sleepily. “Fall wedding?”
“What?” Buck frowns, and Eddie realises: oh, he meant do I want to get married generally not to him specifically. Then Buck is asking, “Why fall?”
Eddie waves a hand: why not? “The leaves are pretty.”
“The leaves—” Buck stops, shaking his head. “We live in LA, Eddie, we’re not exactly swimming in fall vibes.”
Vibes, Eddie mouthes at the ceiling. He blames Ravi and whatever influence he’s had on Buck’s vocabulary. Then he stops, thinks about it some more, and mentally apologises to Ravi for blaming him. He’s pretty sure Bobby is the one who brought vibes into the firehouse.
“Fall has good weather too,” he says. It was summer when he married Shannon and a low pressure system brought down biting, heavy rain that soaked them through as soon as they stepped outside the church. “Not too hot, not too cold, less chance of rain…”
“Doesn’t that happen in a movie?”
Eddie’s turn to frown. “What?”
“There’s a movie where it rains during the wedding,” Buck says. “I can’t remember if it’s supposed to be a good sign or bad sign, though.”
“I think it’s just a sign that it’s raining.”
Buck rolls his eyes. “In the movie, Eds. Like a sign that she’s marrying the right guy or the wrong guy, you know?”
Eddie thinks about fat drops of rain smacking him in the face, his hair sticking limply to his forehead, Shannon shivering against his side, not noticing or not caring as the hem of her wedding dress turns black from the mud.
He thinks about Shannon, pregnant, and the way it felt like a sign. The way it felt like a sign the second time too, but was just the universe mocking him for believing in something like signs.
“I think Hollywood makes rain seem a lot more romantic than it actually is,” he says, shrugging the melancholy away.
“Yeah,” Buck agrees, something distant in his eyes like he’s remembering some awkward relationship moment of his own in the rain. “And snow. It’s like they forget how cold and unpleasant it gets.”
He shivers as he says it, some phantom memory attached to that too. Eddie thinks about asking, but Buck’s past is a patchwork of old bruises and anything he doesn’t willingly share is usually one he doesn’t want poked at. If they were at home, on the couch or in the kitchen, nursing a six pack between them—maybe then Eddie would poke anyway, ready to soothe any hurt it uncovered. Now he just nudges Buck with his elbow and says, “So, fall wedding. No rain, no snow, we won’t sweat through our tuxes before we get to the end of the aisle.”
He catches it a beat too late—we—and braces himself for rejection, for laughing it off, for fumbling through an explanation. His heart is torn, hoping Buck will think he just meant they’d both be in tuxes and walking down the aisle because he’d be Eddie’s best man, and half dreading that that’s all Buck will think when he pictures them at the altar together.
Except—
“We could have a destination wedding,” Buck suggests, his fingers idly pulling a loose thread on one of Eddie’s buttons. Eddie swats his hand away before he can unravel it completely.
“Destination weddings are expensive,” he counters. “We should just get married at the courthouse and save all our money for the honeymoon.”
Buck snorts. “You want to pull a Bobby?”
“I didn’t say we wouldn’t invite anyone.”
He wants to say all I need is you, me and Chris but everything this conversation has become already feels too dangerous. Too close to serious. They’ve always been good at blurring the line between friends and whatever else they could be, but this feels too blurry even for them. Eddie wonders if he should pinch himself, just to make sure he isn’t dreaming.
“And we’ll have a party too,” Buck adds. “Do you think Hen’s cake guy could do a wedding cake?”
“I think Hen’s cake guy can do anything,” Eddie replies, his mouth somehow still working while his brain is spinning, spinning, spinning. He doesn’t remember a lot of the time he spent under the influence of the LSD brownies, but he’s pretty sure it would have felt like this: everything heightened, one step to the side of reality, this unrelenting gravitational pull towards Buck even back then.
“I don’t know what everyone complains about,” Buck says, head tipped back to smile at him. “Wedding planning isn’t so hard.”
Eddie smiles back, like it’s just another inside joke between them. Like this conversation isn’t happening in the middle of a bubble, thin and wobbly and liable to pop at any moment. He wants to say you make everything easy but the edges of the words are too sharp, too real, and he’s not ready for the bubble to pop just yet. He wants to enjoy it, even though he knows it can’t last.
The music in the movie swells as the girl finally gets her Big Damn Kiss and the start of her happily ever after. Buck smiles twists into something wistful as he turns back to the screen and Eddie wants to hold him tighter, but he’s not even holding Buck so it doesn’t make sense.
“I miss kissing,” Buck tells him, quiet enough that it feels like a confession. “Not—I mean, I like sex too, obviously, but kissing just for the sake of kissing, you know?”
It’s late. Everyone else is asleep downstairs. The glow of the TV and the dim yellow light left on above the stove make the shadows feel deeper around them, the night fuzzy around the edges. The movie’s final scene is rolling into the credits, another love song playing quietly through the loft. Their bubble hasn’t popped yet.
Maybe it’s all of those things, or none of those things, that makes Eddie say, “I could kiss you.”
Buck goes still.
Eddie wonders if he could bite clean through his tongue so he can never speak again. Human teeth are crazy strong so it’s definitely possible, right?
Buck would know if it’s possible, he thinks, and then he really does have to bite his tongue so he doesn’t laugh hysterically. God, why did he say that? Just because he was thinking about kissing Buck—has been thinking about it for months going on years—doesn’t mean he should have said it. He’s halfway to an apology—an excuse, maybe, some way to laugh it off as practice for their hypothetical trip down the aisle—when Buck sits up, pulling Eddie upright with him.
“Okay,” he says. “Show me what you’ve got, Diaz.”
His grin is all bravado, but Eddie knows him well enough to see the nervousness at the edges. It soothes him, somehow, knowing Buck is nervous too. Not that this isn’t still a completely stupid idea, the kind of idea that they can never come back from and will probably regret in about two minutes, but—
He cradles the back of Buck’s head, holding him steady while Eddie tilts his own head to fit their lips together. Gentle at first, growing bolder when Buck’s hands curl in the front of his shirt to pull him closer, tongue running along the seam of his lips until they open to welcome Eddie inside. Buck tastes like coffee, a little bit sweet like the vanilla syrup he keeps hidden away at the back of the cupboard in the kitchen. His breath is warm against Eddie’s chin when they break apart just long enough to breathe, lips lingering together, noses bumping, one kiss made up of a dozen smaller kisses.
Eddie pulls away first, forehead resting against Buck’s just for a moment before he drops his hand from the back of Buck’s neck and makes himself sit back. His hands are shaking, he thinks, and he doesn’t know if it’s fear or desire.
“Oh,” Buck murmurs, reaching up to touch his lips, an absent kind of movement like he doesn’t even realise he’s doing it.
Eddie swallows, the taste of Buck still on his tongue. He should—say something, do something, probably not lean in and kiss his best friend again (and again and again).
They both jump when the bell rings.
“Eddie—” Buck starts, but there’s no time. Eddie’s fingers are tingling, his heart stuttering in his chest, but his feet are already moving, muscle memory carrying him while his brain buffers trying to catch up.
“We have to go,” he says, and he’s as grateful as he is irritated by the interruption of the alarm.
“Eddie,” Buck says again, catching his hand to halt him before he can climb into the engine. They’ve got seconds before Bobby sticks his head out the window to ask them what the hold up is, but it only takes a handful of seconds to say, “October.”
“What?”
Buck smiles, “Let’s get married in October.”
He ducks in close enough to kiss Eddie on the corner of the mouth, quick and lop-sided, and then he’s climbing into the engine with a bounce in his step, and—
Oh, Eddie realises, he did mean he wants to marry me specifically.
(“Soo.” Chimney draws the word out awkwardly, looking around at everyone crammed into the engine together. “We all saw that, right?”
“Oh yeah,” Hen answers, her eyebrows raised above her glasses. “We definitely all saw that.”
Eddie just shrugs, his knee pressing against Buck’s thigh, their eyes catching and holding, unable to help smiling at each other while everyone else looks on. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
There’s a round of “uh huh”s and “sure you don’t”s and a half-muttered “at least I’m not finding out about this one four months later” from Bobby.
“By the way,” Buck adds when it’s quiet again, “you’re all invited the wedding.”
They’re still smiling at each other like lovesick fools when the engine explodes into a cacophony of exclamations around them.)

txt as book boyfriends
Tumblr media
a/n ; my opinions, casual writing, and not proofread, some spoilers of the books maybe?
Yeonjun — Alex Volkov [Twisted Series]
Tumblr media
"alex, that piece costs $40,000"
"really? shit. i thought it was expensive."
yeonjun as Alex Volkov is because of the way Alex talks, the way he'd always had this surpressed feeling for his friends sister, the way Alex had that very mysterious aura about him halfway through the book towards everyone about his life, and ESPECIALLY the chapters of the movie night and where he had booked a hotel room just so he could take her there and fuck her after the swimming pool scene really has me on a chokehold because it's so yeonjun coded... yeonjun is the type to teach you something you have a fear of and then turn it into sex of your life if you can interpret that into your imagination.
while that is one spectrum of this character, the other being from the photoshoot scene, where he's posing and talking about his life that changed her perception of him. as I've mentioned before, the way Alex talks and the way he is is just so amusing and it's altogether a very yeonjun aura.
Soobin — Aaron Warner [Shatter me series]
Tumblr media
"I want you to make a list of things you want and I want my heart to be on it."
Aaron has one quality i associate with bf!soobin and that is — care. they care about their girls dearly. soobin and Aaron are so similar in my vision — especially with soobins blonde era, dimples, and how aaron had this underlying obsession for Ella, makes me just think of soobin. and ofcourse his iconic line,, "lift your hips for me, love." is so soobin coded. Aaron would never bring her down, even if it was going to sabotage his own impression on others, he'd always be for her. soobin is just like that.
also soobin & warner are also the epitome of gentleman who are absolute freaks in bed and are so silent and know how to give it to you lmao.
Beomgyu — Levi Ward [Love on the brain]
Tumblr media
"she's my soulmate. if I hurt, she hurts."
Levi was very public about his love for bee in the book, even before from where the plot starts. beomgyu is so like that, he'd never deny his affection and his urge to always be lurking around with you like he's your damn dog.
Taehyun — Ravi [A good girl's guide to murder]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"we're a team, remember? no one's taking you away from me, not even you."
do i even need to explain? Ravi is smart, flirty and attractive. with his comic attitude, he's still clever and witty. a friend I'd call when in trouble and then hopelessly fall in love with. understanding, and affectionate in general. everything I like in a man, and is the only one that came to mind for taehyun. he's bold and knows what he's doing and also has his soft side.
Hueningkai — zade meadows [Haunting Adeline]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"will you be my last meal, baby?"
LET ME EXPLAIN. hueningkai just is.. like that. outside, he's quiet and nobody will ever look at him and go "he's obsessed with a girl.". but, he's exactly that. his black hair era just reminds me of meadows and how hueningkai WOULD fuck you in the house of Mirrors after the carnival closed (that's a scene i swear). and I am indeed only talking about the romance plot of the series of course.
luring into your house and suggesting a game of hide and seek, you hid in the storage room and he'd laugh, saying "if I catch you, i fuck you." and then finding you immediately.
and you'd be so annoyed by his dire need of you, getting on your needs, taking his belt off and wrapping it around your own neck and handing him the lose end of it as he just grinned at the pathetic sight — how lovely.

a (long) comprehensive list of buck related things in 7x04 that have me losing it as i rewatch:
- the stupid starry eyed look he has while getting the tour from tommy
- the terrible “i need mo jo” joke that tommy laughs at purely bc it was endearing
- “you didn’t call me because you wanted to see the toys”
- “you need to raise your bar kid” my GOD the “kid”
- ofc, the “no way!! eddie was in the army!”
- god they are so FLIRTY “really?” “my fees are competitive” “let me buy you a beer no WAY buck is this clueless

- “i saved a baby in a pipe once!” yes you did were so proud
- not buck related: but i adore ravi so much
- OKAY BUT BUCKS STUTTER !! they way he trips over his words when he’s surprised or nervous or even upset 😭
- “i do. i really do.” MY GOD OH MY GOD FUCK ASHHH AHHH
- and the SIGH after as eddie walks away, the building up the courage to ask more
- THE SAY HIS FACE DROPS WHEN EDDIE ASKS HIM TO WATCH CHRIS OHHH EDMUNDO WHEN I CATCH YOU
- “i keep saying, chris it’s not a video game” “because it’s harder than a video game???” maddie i see you and am so sorry you have to deal with this
- SAME WITH “he’s made an impression in a very short time” “i can see that” LIKE SHE IS SO NOT GONNA BE SURPRISED WHEN BUCK COMES OUT TO HER 😭
- “i don’t think you lie to a child just to ingratiate yourself” bro it’s not that serious i promise
- sorry brb imagining buck asking chris all these questions about tommy and chris going 🤔🤔🤔
- buck being upset that eddie invited tommy to play basketball even though eddie always asks him and he says no bc he doesn’t like it… he’s so me i can’t
- “was there a heart around it?” there might as well been maddie!!!
- peacocking buck we love and hate to see (it’s so embarrassing i have to close my eyes. “maybe we should hoop” sir please stop)
- the pouting OLEASE he’s so
- his smile
- the “evan” throws me off every TIME but also it kindaaaaa
- “what are the odds?” bro chill
- the smile when tommy fists bumps him oh i see you gay boy even if you don’t yet
- “so i’m your basketball beard” brother you don’t even KNOW
- i’m sorry the song that’s playing while they play basketball is “playing with the boys”🤔🤔… the lyrics too “i don’t wanna be obsessed but my desire with the boys” (and YES i am aware it’s a top gun reference, however that movie is also gay is hell and so is this song, moving on)
- tommy cocking his head when buck runs into him like oh my
- poor chim does not deserve to be put in the middle of all of this
- “well you bucked that up didn’t you” :(
- okay this scene between maddie and buck afterwards is actually so important to me, i love their ability to communicate, and how buck openly admits that he doesn’t know if he meant to hurt eddie or not, and that he was angry and lashed out, and maddie’s reaction to it :( “that’s not how you get someone’s attention”
- “i guess i was trying to get his attention” buck is the representative of the “i don’t know why i do the things i do until tons of self reflection after the fact” club, same im the president actually
- i do love that we get to watch him try and figure out why he acts and feels the way he does in real time! even at the end he still doesn’t entirely know until tommy is in his face staring at his lips
- the stutter is back 🫶
- “evan…” STOP THE WAY HE SAYS IT THAT TIME MAKES ME GIGGLE I CANT
- this entire scene drives me crazy btw i can literally pick it apart piece by piece… but the way he smiles throughout it makes my heart go akrjeidjdjsjd
- the chemistry is fucking IMMACULATE btw!! the flirting is so natural and it shows through buck being oblivious about it!! like brother no one stands that close to each other
- buck figuring out how he feels AS he speaks!!! poor boy is trying to catch up as fast as he can
- everything about the “okay” after tommy says “i can teach you”… the smile, the eye squint, the head tilt, like oh my GOD
- the way the tone changes when buck says “good” my GOD, the way his face drops as he comes to the realization that maybe it was about tommy the whole time
- the “cause trying to get your attention has been kinda exhausting” punches me in the gut EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS LIKE FUCK OH MY GOD BUCK LIKES MEN FR? and the way he says it GOD, like i said, he’s literally figuring this out as the words come out of his mouth (“i guess so”)
- okay my ONE nitpick about the kiss scene is that tommy grabs his chin, and then when it cuts it’s the two fingers under the chin, it’s inconsistent and i think i like the chin grab better
- the absolute STUNNED look in bucks eyes after the kiss!!! as the perfect oliver stark put it: he’s found something he’s been missing for a long time
- tommy is so worried in the split second before buck tells him that it was okay
- the wordless nod after tommy asks if it was okay THIS MEANS SO MYCH TO ME
- you can FEEL the sense of relief and wholeness radiating off of buck
- “better than fake mouth static” AKSHSISHS
- his eyes following tommy’s lips as he laughs, and then the brief look down like his whole WORLD has just been turned upside down before tommy speaks again
- i am so fucking here for buck being asked out and being stunned by it
- the stutter again 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
- tommy’s smile as he leaves like tee hee ur kinda cute
- the entire of his expressions at the end. there’s panic, there’s confusion, there’s happiness OLIVER STARK THE MAN THAT YOU ARE !!!!
in conclusion: this is everything i wanted and more, the brain rot is everywhere, i cannot escape this episode

definitely love to set the scene with descriptions that i always hope can help you visualize...feel like you're plopped right in the middle of a scene with a character. also like to switch povs every time i switch fics. indivdually, i can't do multiple povs within one story though. i feel like i take my cues from screenwriting more than anything when i set out to put words on the page. this is making me hungry to blow dust off my fics again!

This is going to be a very rambling and venty post cause im tired and annoyed and honestly am just using this to vent my anger/hurt. there is going to be stuff that can maybe be seen as anti tommy/bucktommy (please dont tell me a ship name to put i dont care about if they do have an agreed upon ship name right now) so if you dont want that please just move on. i dont want to fight i just want to yell into the void on a stupid throw away account so i dont bring my negativity stew and come out on my main blog where i just want to enjoy my stuff and just keep happy energy. I dont normally post and try and just find someone who explains it better because im not great and getting what im saying across or understood the way i want, so please bear with me. With that said i will move on to what i want to say
Okay so i have been watching 9-1-1 for years and i love and adore it. Its characters and dynamics and i have always loved found family. Now i will admit that i started watching it thinking that Buck and Eddie were a couple and had a son so i was kinda watching for it. Do i think if i didn't start watching thinking that i would ship them still yes 100%. I have always loved their relationship and i have loved watching both Buck and Eddie grow and start to be happy while also having each others back even at the worst times. Sometimes if i think to hard about Eddie and start crying cause I'm very normal about this show and it characters. Now Eddie is my favorite character in the show and at least in my top five overall favorite characters. I love him and his development and i adore seeing how much he does to just do right by Chris even when he messes up you can tell how much he adores that boy and how badly he wants to give Chris the best life possible. I could write essays about Eddie Diaz trying to explain how much i love him and why and i think words would run out before i could finish making people understand. Buddie is my favorite ship (sometimes second depending on my mood. i would say sorry but Henren and Madney will always be amazing ships and sometimes i just cant stop think about them)(Sorry Bathena i love you too i swear i just cant decide if i wanna kiss athena or be adopted by bobby and athena:( Its confusing) and has been for quite awhile and is one of my overall favorites and its one of my comfort ships.
With that context when bi Buck happened i was so insanely happy and i wouldnt shut up about it. it made me sick. i was so happy for Buck and while i think a part of me will always be a little sad Eddie wasnt his first kiss with a guy i dont think either of them are ready for that. i also understand that it wouldnt make sense for how the story is going right now. Now i have nothing against bucktommy in the show. I have watched the kiss scene and sobbed to much to pretend like i hate them or even dislike them. However I genuinely dont care about Tommy. Hes kinda bland and i forget about him half the time and before they brought him back i completely forgot his name. in my mind he was the one that wasnt as much of an asshole to chim and hen as the other two assholes which wasnt saying a lot. Now I dont dislike tommy nor am i going to act like hes irredeemable because neither Chim nor Hen seem to think hes still that guy and while they dont seem super close they seem to get along so clearly, he's not like that anymore. I have nothing that makes me dislike him nor do I like him. He's just there. He's just the guy buck kissed. Thats all he means to me. I would give up his screen time for Ravi or May or Karen in a heartbeat. because i love them cause they mean something to me. I don't think i thought about the fact that people might actually like him especially not more than EDDIE.
This is where the context matters cause i am to my core a one ship per person girly. I might see a ship and people who like it and even think thats not a terrible ship but i will still only look at content for my ship for that person (ie. i ship Destiel (dont say anything bad about them ill cry<3) but i can see the way someone would also ship Dean and Benny or crowley or Cas and Crowley or Mick but i will ignore the ship and move on and look at more Dean and Cas). normally i will just ignore the ship and move on because im not who its for. If it gets annoying in my tag or anything like that ill block it or whoever is annoying me cause its not a them problem that i dont want to see it. When i start to have a problem is when multiple people arent tagging right for whatever reason or people who are being rude about the ship i like because of their ship. When I started seeing Bucktommy stuff more and more in the 9-1-1 tag i went to the buddie tag cause i dont want to see them. my problem is that when im reading on AO3 and click on a fic tagged Buddie where bucktommy get married. it was literally just hurting Eddie. There was stuff before like id be scrolling though the buddie tag here and see someone saying that Tommy is a better character then Eddie and saying that they hope bucktommy is endgame. Whatever block and move on. Just like always but then people who have shipped buddie for years who ive seen talk about them are suddenly saying that they like bucktommy better. People who started watching because of bucktommy saying they dont like Eddie. People are going to have different opinions but it still bugged me. and then i read that and i was just hurt because it was tagged happy ending and i cannot fathom ever thinking Eddie hurting and pining is a happy ending. So i started to get more annoyed and i hate when that happens especially with a show i love and a character i dont dislike so i tried to just move on but more and more people are taking about it then i saw someone saying that they wanted eddie to die so buck and tommy can have Chris.
I just hate that so many people are jumping on the bucktommy train and saying that they like it better than buddie something that is so good and sweet or saying that they like Tommy more than Eddie. I just dont get it cause Tommy is boring. like yeah we now some about him and he flies a helicopter but hes forgettable he could be a completely different person and next to nothing would have to change. We have seen Eddie at his worst and claw his way back up and hes finally letting himself be open and honest and soft. Eddie couldnt be replaced. Now im not saying Tommy can't be an interesting character but as he is right now?? He just isnt. Hes just as bland as every women (minus Taylor and Shannon) Buck and Eddie have dated and been hated on for no reason!!! Like i get that Tommy is a guy and we got canon Bi Buck and people are happy but those same people turn around and shit on Marisol from what ive seen(I could be wrong cause again i have done my best to avoid). Buddie fans arent safe from that either, cause we all know that Buddie fans do that but so many of those people who hated on them and said they didnt want them with anyone else suddenly decided that they were okay if Buck ended up with any guy. I dont know its just weird and i hate how many people are acting like Eddie isnt always going to be better then Tommy. Part of me wanted Tommy to stick around and help Buck and Eddie figure it all out but now?? i honestly just cant wait for him to be gone cause I want to have fun and read fics for my comfort ship and just chill where i can see all of my ships in the show without buck and tommy being everywhere or people saying crap about Eddie.
I have more to say but most of its about how gratifying waiting and seeing where this whole thing goes(Buddie season 8 PLEASE!!) and this is already why to long and i think im just going in circles and none of this makes sense so ima shut up for now and hopefully this will help it not fester and drive me insane and become a tommy hater
Edit: but i also hate that Tommy calls Buck Evan so he already had some stuff against him rip

Why Tommy Kinard Will Never Be Part of the 118
Many people are supportive of Tommy as a new love interest for Buck and feel that he’s the best love interest so far. I definitely disagree with this for a variety if reasons. One of the reasons why a lot of people think that BuckTommy is different from all of Buck’s other relationships is because he knew the 118 and has his own relationship with them, therefore it would be easier to make him a part of the 118.
However, in Bobby Begins, the show makes it a point to emphasize that characters like Tommy, Sal and Gerrard leaving was one of the final steps in making the 118 feel like a family. The older, closed-minded generation that made the 118 wrought with racism, misogyny and homophobia left so that the younger, more open-minded generation (Buck, Eddie and Ravi) can come in and be moulded by Hen, Chim and Bobby to be the firefighters and men they are today. From then on out, Hen, Chim and Bobby moulded the 118 to be the safe and accepting place it is today for all firefighters and Buck,Eddie and Ravi will continue the work Hen,Chim and Bobby have done as they rise up in seniority and when Hen and Chim eventually become captains somewhere else and Bobby retires.
Tommy represents the old 118, the 118 Hen and Chim suffered under and would never want to go back to. He can never be part of the 118, because he is a symbol of the old 118, which is the antithesis of everything the 118 is now. Yes, Tommy,Hen and Chim are on decent terms now (even though Tommy never apologized for his past actions) but would they really want a reminder of everything they’ve suffered through for years at the 118 at every barbecue, every family gathering and in pictures of their friend’s phone?
It should also be noted that Hen and Chim don’t try to hangout or interact with Tommy beyond asking him for a favour (as they should). It seems that their treatment of Tommy isn’t that different than their treatment of Buck’s other love interests ie nice and cordial. I would even argue that they included Abby and Taylor more at their gatherings.
Another point on why Tommy will never be part of the 118. His spot has been filled by Buck. Buck is Tommy’s replacement, right after Tommy leaves, Buck enters the scene. Does Tommy know about this? Who knows. But the jealousy is still there. Tommy has stated in 7x04 and 7x10 that he’s jealous of Buck and his close bond with the 118. The fact that they’ve emphasized Tommy’s jealousy quite a bit makes me think that this may be a plot line in season 8 and perhaps this may be the thing that causes them to break up.

So, I have a doubt ( I am a straight women ,27 and Indian ) is it a crime that White man is attracted to white man in US bcoz I have seen a lot discourse that u only ship bucktommy bcoz they are two white man , So if they are both white they can't have feelings for each other , I am genuinely curious bcoz I don't know the dynamics in US or races in that country .
If you are uncomfortable to answer this I can understand
Thank you
and I just want to say I also really would like to Ravi to be main in S8 and rooting for Ravi begins and Tommy begins and Haters gonna hate no matter what the ethnicity /race/gender if that isn't your ship
Ok so if I understand this ask correctly you’re asking why people say “you only ship them because they’re two white men” as a negative for BuckTommy and the answer is essentially that due to racial dynamics in the US, Eddie is considered not “really” white because he’s Latino (more accurately he’s Mexican, Latino is a cultural group the same way Dravidian is, for example) and Latinos experience a lot of discrimination in the US. So the implication is supposed to be that someone is being racist for shipping Buck and Tommy over Buck and Eddie
See, on Tumblr, there’s some people that think you can’t just dislike a ship, it has to be proven as immoral for other people to like it at all, so they pick the opposing ship apart to “prove” it’s “problematic.” Hence why last week someone tried to lie about the only BuckTommy scene in the episode to try to say that Tommy responded to Buck’s attempt at connection by “bringing up Daddy kink out of the blue” (if you watch the scene, Buck says “I guess we both have daddy issues” and the flirting continues from there) or trying to say that Tommy calling Buck “Evan” is proof he doesn’t respect Buck/is just like Buck’s parents/etc or that calling him “kid” makes him a predator. (All real things I read in the tags of that post btw)
Of course what makes this funny to me is that I have actually been in a fandom where two men were shipped together primarily because they were white men in close proximity to one another, to the detriment of the canon relationship between the white man and the Latino lead: Teen Wolf. I am very aware of what happens when a barely-supported-by-canon ship between two white men takes over the fandom and starts pushing out fans of color and letting racism against the other characters run rampant. This is not that. People ship Buck and Tommy because they are dating.

Not to be too demanding, but will the drabbles include the poly romances? Because I do imagine it would change a lot of how the characters feel. But don't feel pressured to do it. It's completely fine if you don't.
Although it makes me wonder how you are planning the polys to go. Are we going to confess first to one of the characters? Or to the two characters at once? And are the polys a true triad, or a V poly?
Anyway. In truth I'm just asking because, selfishly, I want more Jay. But I do think both Jay and Ravi would have a different mind space if they got to wake up next to each other and MC.
That said, I understand if you don't write the poly drabbles. Since it would mean either going back and forth between POVs, or writing 2 different drabbles of the same moment. And that's a lot of work for something like this.
Of course, if you want to do it, I think all of us readers will love it. Just, if you do write these, please take care of yourself and don't overwork, okay? Straining yourself is not a good thing.
Hey, Nonnie! I hope you're doing well c: Big long response under the cut!
To start out, I don't think you're being demanding at all! It's a good question. To be honest, I'd really like to do drabbles for the polyships. I'm very fond of them, and I think it'd be a fun chance to explore them early on.
Especially because so far, these drabbles have all been tastes of how the relationship between MC and the RO is going to go. In a way they sort of...hint at the general vibe. And I'd like to be able to do that for the polyships, as well!
That being said, I'm hitting the same roadblocks you've mentioned here in the ask. I'm not sure how I'd handle the POVs, because switching between two POVs would feel like a lot for such short drabbles, and writing out the same drabble twice from different POVs would also be a Feat. And I'm not sure if people would enjoy them from just one POV, either...
Especially considering that, like you're saying, each half of the polyship would have totally different thoughts and vibes. And they'd have a lot to think about one another as well as MC.
Lots of words to say that it's something I'm considering, as I really would like to write them, but I have to figure out how to go about it first.
As for the polyships themselves--all three (can be) closed triads! Beck/MC/Perri and Jay/MC/Ravi are always closed triads, while Jay/MC/Yasmin can be a closed triad or a V, with MC dating Jay and staying FWBs with Yasmin.
The MC will always be the driving force in the polyships. My personal philosophy with these ships is that they're between characters that could conceptually get together on their own, but without MC's involvement, they never would. The MC is, in a way, the thing that brings them together--and the glue that makes the relationship work.
As for confessions, it's something I'll have to figure out as I'm writing it! Especially because it'll be different based on the particular polyship. A very loose estimate, though:
Beck and Perri are kind of a package deal in regards to their polyship. The MC will have chances to develop their attraction to both separately, but I really see them being the two you'd most likely confess to in one combined conversation. But it still depends on where the writing takes me!
Jay and Ravi are...complicated. Their relationship has ups and downs throughout the story, and adding a combined attraction to MC into the mix won't make anything easier. If I had to guess, I'd wager that MC will end up talking to them separately before they talk to them together.
And Jay and Yasmin especially are a unique case, since you can build MC's attraction and relationship with Jay while being FWBs with Yasmin! It's the one combination where, instead of having a 'choose one or the other' scene with your RO if you're FWBs with Yas, Jay will instead be like 'I'm polyam and not against this, but we Need To Talk About It'. And then, if you choose for Yasmin to develop ~feelings~, then the triad ship can develop!
Once again, just kind of general overviews on my thoughts going into things! Also, I can't blame you for wanting more Jay, haha. Me, too, tbh. They're a treat to write.
All in all, thank you so much for the ask, and I promise I'm taking care of myself <3 I'd love to be able to share polyship drabbles with you all...just a matter of figuring out the logistics c:
